Three Shot In
Milwaukee Nightclub Saturday
Three men were shot inside The Chocolate Rose Lounge at
44th and Lisbon streets after at least nine shots pierced the front door.
The club was at capacity when three men approached the
door wanting to get in, but were denied entrance, police said.
A sign on the door states that all patrons will be
searched upon entrance, and the three men were, but when they were denied
entrance to the club, they started arguing with the security staff. They said
they would come back with a gun, according to police.
Police said they returned and started shooting through
the door.
Three male patrons inside, ages 33, 23, and 42, were
hit by bullets.
The 33-year-old was not initially expected to survive,
police said, but he is now stable, but in critical condition. The two other
victims were treated and released from the hospital.
One man, Ben Davis, was visiting a friend who lives
above the door when he heard the gunfire.
"I heard gunshots, then screams, and then a pause. Then
all the cops coming," Davis said.
Police are looking for the shooters, but people in the
neighborhood say incidents like this are common at The Chocolate Rose and it was
only a matter of time before someone got hurt. Police are urging witnesses to
come forward with more information about the shooting.
