Guard is arrested
after gunfire at club
A security guard was arrested by Raleigh
police after an early Sunday morning gunbattle at Club Fiesta, a
Latin-themed restaurant and nightclub on Wake Forest Road.
Police charged the security guard at the
club, Myron Alfonso Monroe, 41, of 1311-G Post St., Durham, with
possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed
weapon, filing a false police report, and resisting, delaying or
obstructing an officer, according to police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
Shortly before 2:35 a.m., a patron that was
ejected from Club Fiesta, at 4212 Wake Forest Road, returned and
traded shots with Monroe in the parking lot, Raleigh police said.
According to the police report, Monroe lied
about being a patron at Club Fiesta, rather than a security guard.
The shooting follows another incident at
Club Fiesta last Sunday, when a robbery attempt led to a fight with
stun guns and pistols.
