Officer Gabriel E. Dobkin
reported he was assisting with a traffic stop on Arlington
Road
near University Boulevard about 1 a.m. when he was approached by
Derrick Crockett, a security guard at the nightclub.
Crockett said that after
he had refused to allow someone into the club, the person stuck
a gun in his face.
Dobkin said when he
arrived at the nightclub, the man tried to duck inside a beauty
salon next door. He was helped by a 17-year-old girl, who helped
him bar the salon's door to keep Dobkin out.
When Dobkin tried to
force the door open, another person jumped into the fray,
shoving Dobkin from behind so he lost his balance and fell away
from the door, he said.
The gunman went out the
back door of the salon but was quickly caught.
Cordero D. Jones, 20,
Tamira N. Jones, 19, and a juvenile, all from Jackonville, were
arrested. Cordero Jones was charged with assault with a deadly
weapon. Tamira Jones was charged with resisting a police officer
with violence. The juvenile was charged with resisting an
officer without violence.
