Bouncer charged after Clarkson tavern assault

A 24-year-old security guard has been charged with allegedly assaulting two brothers at a Clarkson tavern in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of grievous bodily harm after he allegedly pushed a patron down a set of stairs and punched him unconscious.

Police say the first of the victims, a 26-year-old man, had approached security staff of the Whale and Ale Tavern to allow him back inside to use the toilet.

The patron’s 27-year-old brother then allegedly had an altercation with the security guard, who allegedly punched the man to the head, causing him to fall unconscious.

The 27-year-old was admitted to the Joondalup Health Campus and later transferred to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for brain injury treatment

The security guard will appear in Joondalup Magistrate’s Court today.
