- Off-duty
bouncer charged with sexual misconduct
Charles Krom
told police he just couldn't believe what was happening.
"He couldn't
believe officers were arresting him for this, especially
when he is the one that is usually protecting the girls from
that kind of thing when he is working as a bouncer,"
according to the criminal complaint.
Krom, 33, 2895
Petersen Lane S.E., has been charged with gross misdemeanor
fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly touching
a woman inappropiately at a bar in downtown Rochester.
Krom wasn't
working as a bouncer Sunday when police were called to
Kathy's Pub about 1:55 a.m. for a sexual assault. He was
identified as the suspect and told police he was at the bar
to drink and have a good time.
The complaint
says Krom admitted that he walked up behind a woman he
thought he knew, reached around her from behind and grabbed
her breasts. He said he realized it wasn't the woman he knew
and apologized. The victim and a witness called police.
Krom was
arraigned Monday in Olmsted District Court. Judge Joseph
Wieners set unconditional bail at $5,000 or said he could be
released on his own recognizance with conditions. He is to
have no contact with the victim or witnesses. He returns to
court Jan. 26.
