to kill
A jilted man
charged with kidnapping and threatening his former lover
killed her when he was released on bail, a court heard
yesterday.
Nightclub
bouncer Alan Entwistle, 52, vowed: "If I can't have her, no
one will," when his relationship with 31-year-old Claire
Atkinson ended.
He had faced
charges of kidnap and assault after allegedly trapping the
mum-of-two in a car on an earlier trip to a DIY store and
drawing a knife on her.
When she moved
out the next day, he allegedly told her, "You only have a
week, you've had it." Entwistle was granted bail and
ambushed Claire four days before she was due to testify
against him at Blackpool magistrates court.
He stabbed her
13 times after she left work at Iceland in his home town of
Fleetwood, Lancs, and dumped her body in a car before
crashing it, Preston crown court heard.
Entwistle, who
admitted murder, was jailed for life and must serve at least
21 and a half years. Judge Anthony Russell, QC, said: "You
were determined to kill Claire Atkinson."
