A FORMER nightclub
bouncer has been handed a suspended 16-week prison sentence
after punching a man in the face in a row over a girlfriend.
Forty-year-old
Joseph Boyd, of Woodview Crescent, Widnes, was convicted of
assault occasioning actual body harm after an incident in the
Level Bar, Warrington, last summer.
Chester Crown
Court heard how Boyd, who had no previous convictions, followed
his victim into the toilet, punched him in the face and left him
with a split lip.
The defendant was
ordered to pay £500 compensation to the victim of the assault
and to undertake 100-hours of unpaid work.
Judge David Hale
told Boyd: “It was a mean and vicious assault. You were
obviously a much stronger man than your victim. It was, however,
only a punch and no weapon was involved. Never come before a
court again.”
