CCTV captures brutal beating

NIGHTCLUB staff were captured by their own CCTV camera beating a reveller with a metal bar so hard that it broke.

Three workers and one of the owners of the trendy Fridge club in Brixton, South London, battered the party-goer unconcious.

But they were caught on their camera dishing out the savage beating.

Fridge co-owner Ralph Daley, 46, was seen on film smashing the victim four times with a heavy metal bar which bent on impact with the victim's body.

Meanwhile, bouncer Frederick Mallefroy, 45, was captured holding the man down and savagely beating him as club cashier Victor Reid, 42, stamped on the victim's head during the attack in November 2006.

Although the victim refused to make a statement against his assailants, police used CCTV from the club and street cameras to arrest and convict them of grevious bodily harm.

They will be sentenced today at Inner London Crown Court with two more club workers found guilty of perverting the course of justice by disposing of the metal bar.

Lambeth Police borough commander, Chief Superintendent Sharon Rowe, said : "All of those convicted worked for the Fridge Bar and were supposed to be responsible for preventing disorder - but instead they created it.

"The level of violence used was totally unacceptable and I hope this case will send out a very clear message that those engaging in such violence will be prosecuted with or without the help of a victim."
