Man Pleads
Guilty To Nightclub Shootings
A man on trial for
allegedly gunning down two security guards outside of a downtown
nightclub struck a deal with prosecutors on Monday.
According
to police, Tarell Patton (pictured, right) shot and killed the two
men outside the Downtown Dolls club in November 2006, 10TV's Andy
Hirsch reported.
Patton was
apprehended in February 2007 after Crime Stoppers received a tip
in the case.
In exchange for
pleading guilty to the shootings, Patton, who faced up to two life
sentences, will spend 18 years to life behind bars, Hirsch
reported.
Neither prosecutors
nor defense lawyers cited a specific reason for the deal, but
prosecutors told 10TV News that Patton's defense attorneys
approached them about a deal on Monday, Hirsch reported.
The deal was
announced shortly after prosecutors showed the court enhanced
security camera footage shot from outside the nightclub the night
of the shootings, Hirsch reported.
Patton did not
speak in court when given the opportunity on Monday.
