patrons gunned down in Madrid
- Two
men, a Spaniard and a Romanian, were shot dead in the
early hours of Monday near a nightclub in the historic
centre of Madrid, Spanish police said.
Police detained a 36-year-old Spanish man who is
believed to be responsible for the shooting, a police
spokesperson told reporters.
One of the two victims, a 31-year-old security guard at
the nightclub, died in hospital while the other, a
24-year-old Spaniard, died at the site of the shooting,
she added.
Police gave no motive for the shooting. According to
police, the detained suspect had a criminal record for
arms possession and assault.
