Chances owner, bouncer arrested

A fight-in-progress call Sunday at Chances Nightclub on North Main Street led to the arrests of two employees.

Arrested were Jeremy Lynn McDaniel, 30, of Grandview on a charge of aggravated assault and Chances owner Carmen A. Senese, 43, of Cedar Hill on a charge of public intoxication.

Officers arrived about 1:13 a.m. to find a man, the apparent victim of an assault, getting up from the ground in the club’s parking lot, according to reports. The man appeared dazed and had a laceration to the back of his head. CareFlite transported the man to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Details regarding his condition have not been released.

Witnesses pointed out McDaniel, a bouncer at the club, and told police he chased the injured man out of the club, according to reports. McDaniel struck the man in the back of the head with his elbow, which knocked the man unconscious and caused him to fall and strike his head a second time on the gravel parking lot, according to witnesses.

McDaniel told police he and the man engaged in a physical altercation about 30 minutes before police arrived, which involved “just words and shoving.” McDaniel told police he kicked the man out of the bar after the incident. McDaniel later admitted to officer David Hogan that he did hit the man, according to reports.

Police talked to Senese, who was in the parking lot at the time. Senese confirmed the earlier altercation between McDaniel and the injured man but had no explanation as to why he didn’t call the police or why McDaniel later left the bar to pursue the man.

Police went on to arrest Senese for public intoxication and notified the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission of the incident as Senese is the licensee of the bar and was on the scene.

McDaniel remains jailed at the Johnson County Corrections Center on a $25,000 bond. Senese has been released on a $400 bond.
