It started as a fight
outside a strip club during NBA All-Star Weekend, and ended with a
bouncer being shot and paralyzed. On Sunday, motorcycle riders
came together to raise money for that bouncer, Tom Urbanski.
Urbanski was shot three to
four times during the February shooting at Minxx Gentlemen's
Club. One bullet is lodged in his spine. He's being treated at a
rehab facility in Colorado. But his medical costs are rising.
That's part of why Sunday's ride was organized.
Riders hit the streets with
a ferocious roar. Cruising down the highway, one person, Tom
Urbanski, was on their minds. The bi-coastal motorcycle run
originated at the Hogs and Heifers Saloon in New York and at the
Third Street Outpost here in Las Vegas. Some 200 riders enjoyed
barbecue and live entertainment afterwards.
Urbanski is a Las Vegan. He
worked as a real estate agent by day and a security guard by night
at Hogs and Heifers Saloon. And before he was paralyzed from the
waist done during that NBA All-star turmoil, he was a manager at
the Minxx Gentlemen's Club.
This not only has been a
horrific tragedy that's left Tom in a wheelchair, but it's also
been an expensive ordeal. The donations will go toward Tom's
mounting medical costs. On top of that, Tom's home also has to be
remodeled to accommodate his wheelchair.
Urbanski was in a coma for a
month after the shooting. He dreams of walking again one day.
Even though he was unable to make it to Las Vegas Sunday, he knows
he has a lot of support.
If you're interested in
helping out Tom Urbanski, you can donate at Hogs & Heifers
Saloons. Also, at any Silver State Bank branch.
