Austin police said a man rammed his car into a night club around 10 p.m. Thursday after a bartender refused to serve him any more alcohol.

Police said Dennis Aguilar-Carachure, 21, became angry and drove his SUV through the front door at La Preferida night club at 6929 Airport Blvd. Aguilar-Carachure did not cause extensive damage to the club, but injured a security guard inside who was taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge.

A customer called police and more customers chased after him, police said. Aguilar-Carachure left in the car, police said.

A few blocks down at Lamar Boulevard and Morrow Avenue, Aguilar-Carachure wrecked the car and fled on foot, with police chasing him, officials said.

Aguilar-Carachure was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted. The charge was enhanced to a first degree felony because he injured a security guard.
