Perth bouncer lashed out at patron: police

Police claim a bouncer lashed out at a patron at a Perth bar yesterday afternoon, knocking him to the ground.

Police spokesman Sergeant Greg Lambert said officers were alerted to a fight at the Botanica Bar and Bistro in Innaloo about 4.30pm, where they found the patron lying on the ground at the front of the venue.

The patron and two of his mates were asked to leave the premises because of unacceptable behaviour.

Sergeant Lambert said CCTV footage showed the patron punching the bouncer before he retaliated.

It is believed the bouncer hit the patron in the head, knocking him unconscious.

Police said neither party had made a formal complaint, therefore no charges would be laid.

He said bouncers "can use reasonable force to perform their duties".

The manager of the Botanica Bar would not comment on the incident.
