Two, including suspect, wounded in club shooting

A fight inside the Champ Bar and Grill on West Beltline Boulevard around midnight Saturday led to an exchange of gunfire that wounded a bouncer and the man Richland County Sheriff’s deputies said opened fire on the club.

Lt. Chris Cowan said Rick McCoy, who is hospitalized, faces charges of public disorderly conduct and assault with intent to kill.

According to deputies, a fight involving several people broke out inside the club. McCoy, who was one of those ordered to leave, went to his truck, got a gun and opened fire on the club, Cowan said. The bouncer and security guard both returned fire and McCoy was hit, Cowan said. The guard subdued him and took him into custody.
