about the security of their club. However, because
each situation is or can be unique it's possible that we

Yes, and no. We like the protection of a big
burly Bouncer just as the next guy. But when a patron sees a big burly
Bouncer their immediate thoughts are negative and physical. Patrons are humans and
should be treat as one. BouncerOnline believes that nightclub security has
changed over the years because the patrons demands it to. Take a look at

A great deal of research was conducted just before
BouncerOnline hit the Internet. It was determined that many nightclubs
were facing lawsuits, losing their liquor licenses and closing up for good.
The main reasons were the lack of security, security procedures and the lack of
or no security training. We were not able to locate one website, DVD or
book in regards to nightclub security that also mentions "Customer Service."
Update: While the above was written in 2003,
there have since been a few websites, DVD's and books who now share our mission
to improve nightclub security. However the ones we highly recommend our
listed on our Resource Links
pages.

Lack of being serious about the security of their club
and their job. Bouncers are not given a high score on intelligence to
begin with. This gives the impression that we are not worth training or
trainable. This needs to change. This will change.
Update: This has changed. While the above
was written in 2003, we're just going to go ahead and toot our own horn and say
that BouncerOnline is a-head-of-the-times. Following the European states
United States are now mandating the training and certification of all nightclub
security personnel. Bouncers who are working without a license will be
fine and/or imprisoned along with the club owner. Check here to see if
your state has started its mandating.

We like to think that life isn't that bad. But mostly
it's a display of intimidation. Intimidating patrons to do something leads
to confrontations and not handling a situation intelligently may be the best way that
the tough guy can think that he is in control. The key is manage not control.
Being a Bouncer is fun and easy work. It's the one's with the intimidating
attitudes that find it hard to do.

It depends on your lifestyle. Some people are
happy just being a security guard at a bank, others are happier being a police
officer. Becoming a successful Bouncer will definitely put you in the mind
set of the security and law enforcement field. You may find yourself
meeting a lot of different patrons while working as a bouncer who have different
careers themselves. If the nightclub industry has nothing to offer you,
befriending a patron could help open up other doors for you.

Many nightclubs are being forced to change the way that
their security staff operates. Unfortunately there are still so-called
Bouncers out there who think that getting into fights is all we do. A
Bouncer's responsibility has changed over the years and many club owners have
yet to see that change withn their own venue. On the other hand, it's good
to say that some club owners do realize
that there is more to a Bouncer then mass and muscles.
